RedSnow 0.9.7b1 Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak (Monte) for iPhone 4, iPod touch & iPad Now Available [iPhone Dev Team Released Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 to Bring Untethered Jailbreaking to iPhone, iPod touch & iPad Running iOS 4.2.1]
A few days ago we told you that the jailbreak tool offered by the iPhone Dev Team was going to get a little better as the hackers confirmed a new Redsn0w version was coming by Christmas. And it seems the iPhone Dev Team delivered, as there’s a brand new jailbreaking tool available to download right away, Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 which will offer you an untethered jailbreak no matter what iOS 4.2.1 device you’re currently using (the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.)

Before proceeding with this new jailbreak attempt, we’ll remind you that whatever you put your iOS device through it’s your responsibility, and yours alone, as we wouldn’t advise you to pursue any jailbreaking, unlocking and rooting endeavors no matter if they’re legal or not. On top of all this even the iPhone Dev Team reminds you that this is a tester invitation, a first beta using this Redsn0w “beta method,” so make sure you read through all the available instructions before you actually go through with the jailbreak.
Now, here’s what you need to know about this Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 beta release:
• This is a beta tester program. It’s not a general release! Things can go very wrong, so please don’t even consider testing if you have pictures or other media on your device that you haven’t backed up!
• For the same reason, please don’t participate if you rely on the ultrasn0w carrier unlock. Wait for the final version!
• Until we fix some sandbox issues with bluetooth, the bluetooth functionality is disabled.
• This very first beta1 is limited to iPhone4, iPad, and iPod touch 4G.
• Cydia must have your 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved on file. (As we approach a general release, we’ll provide a way to let you use locally saved hashes too).
• You must already have the usbmuxd software installed and running on your Mac (this requirement will eventually go away too). The correct invocation of the relay is just as that page says: “./tcprelay.py -t 22:2222”. If the relay isn’t installed or running correctly by the time the redsn0w ramdisk has started, you’ll need to restore to stock FW again to try it again. Please test it beforehand to save yourself some time!
• Please leave all feedback in the comments below (we really need your feedback to help develop it into a stable release!)
The download link is:
• redsn0w 0.9.7b1 (OS X). Select “Jailbreak Monte” to try out the untether.
We’ll certainly keep you updated on the iOS untethered jailbreak tools coming out in the near future, and especially on this final Redsn0w version, so keep following us on Twitter for further detailed jailbreaking news. Also, in case you want to take part in this iPhone Dev Team beta testing program, let us know how it all works out for you!
