Rock Band, Dance Central Rights Stay With Harmonix Following Ownership Shift

Rights To Rock Band, Dance Central Still Owned By Harmonix

Following acclaimed developer Harmonix’s very own Independence Day, which we still don’t know why they chose to have around Christmas, because whenever you have two celebrations around the same day they sort of tend to meld together and nobody wants that, the rights to the franchises that have made them great and your living room the scene of many a debauched singing and dancing gaming marathons were facing an uncertain future.

Until now, that is, because word is they’re staying with Harmonix. It makes a lot of sense, since if Viacom say they don’t have the scale to handle these franchises now, after selling off Harmonix they wouldn’t even have anyone to develop them and just getting contractors in would have undoubtedly seen quality plummet, the brand tarnished and scores of people turning to Guitar Praise for their social gaming music needs, or as anyone who’s played Guitar Praise calls it, the Harbinger of the Apocalypse.
