Sony Says It Will Sell 15 Million PS3s By End Of March
In another sign that perhaps the economy is starting to turn around in a positive way, Sony’s CEO Kaz Hirai made a statement yesterday in which he touted his company’s projected sales of the Playstation 3. Hirai said that Sony is well on its way to selling 15 million PS3’s by the end of the fiscal year, March 31st of 2011.

While those sales numbers are positive in general with a 2 million unit uptick from the previous fiscal year Hirai’s company is still lagging behind the competition. In the United States especially, Sony is still consistently coming in third behind the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. In November Xbox sold 1.37 Million units while Nintendo sold 1.2 million Wii’s. Sony did not divulge how many consoles they sold in November but did admit to trailing both companies.
If Sony is going to turn around lagging United States sales numbers they will most likely do it thanks to the Playstation Move which sold a reported 4.1 million units in November alone.
