Castlevania Coming To Nintendo 3DS, Rumor Says, 3D To Feature Extensively
The current incarnation of Castlevania, the critically and commercially successful Lords Of Shadow almost didn’t make it. Which makes the question raised by the new rumor of a Castlevania coming to 3DS vie original creator Koji Igarashi an interesting one, since it says that Konami has 3D modelers working on the thing, which may mean, *gasp* the franchise may be making 3D its permanent home, with 2D sidescrollers relegated to a supporting role in the future?

3D side-scrollers with a 2D perspective aren’t of course anything new, but with the long time coming success of a fully 3D entry in the series, the higher-ups at Konami must have at least wondered what a complete move to 3D would mean for the franchise, whether it would fly like Metroid, or bomb like… the original 3D Castlevania. Apparently the rumored 3DS Castlevania would make extensive use of the 3D camera, as motion controls, though fun, aren’t considered precise enough for what Koji Igarashi has in mind. Fingers crossed, everyone.
