Android Market Carrier Billing Now Heads To AT&T
AT&T customers now can use carrier billing for their Android Market purchases. The semi-popular way to pay for your app store purchase was previously only available on T-Mobile, but now it’s spread to AT&T as well. Many customers who don’t want to use a credit card or attach one to their Market account for whatever reason now have another option.

Google had promised this for all carriers months go, if I recall, but it seems to be rolling out slowly and I imagine it’s also up to the carrier if they want to implement this feature. Of course, if you’re a parent who lets your kids play with your phone (or if you have a Galaxy Tab or something), be careful that they aren’t using one of those games that charges you $1 for every time you feed a fish or something. That could quickly lead to getting “bill shock” the next time you open up that phone bill.
According to the Android Developers blog, they say that they’ve been rolling out this feature to all AT&T Android phones the past few days, so everybody should have it soon enough. A little note, it appears that your AT&T phone needs to be 100% virgin stock to receive the option to use carrier billing. Odd, I know, but people with custom ROMs on their AT&T phone or people who have just gained superuser access are reporting that they can’t see the carrier billing option. So, be advised, I guess.
