TomTom Version 1.6 For iPhone Brings Crowd Sourced Mapping
There are plenty of great GPS type apps for the iPhone and iPad but of course TomTom is a well known commodity when it comes to dealing with driving directions. Now the newest update to TomTom’s iPhone app adds a special new feature that could set it apart from all the others.

TomTom 1.6 allows more user integration than ever before including what it is terming “crowd sourced mapping.” This particular feature is picking up steam across the mapping device and website community as MapQuest just recently announced it too would be adopting a crowd sourcing mapping alternative. In TomTom 1.6, iPhone users will be able to download these new crowd sourced maps for even more up to date changes on certain routes. This should come in very handy when dealing with obstacles like new one way streets or construction. In addition the new updates to TomTom will allow the users to mark streets they never wish to use in mapping.
The crowd sourced updates are expected to be uploaded to the TomTom server about once a week.
