Samsung Epic 4G Android 2.2 Update Tipped For December 26th By Leaked Internal Memo
Following up on yesterdays news that the Android 2.2.1 update was set to begin rolling out to Sprint Epic 4G users, we now have more evidence that it will arrive on December 26th.

That said, given the past history of rumored release dates and the fact that the update had been leaked unofficially and even officially started and stopped — we remain rather skeptical and this will have to be a case of we will believe it when we see it.
Anyway, these latest details are coming by what appears to be a rather convincing internal memo from Sprint, which notes the update as having an “effective date” of December 26th. Needless to say, even assuming this memo is the real deal, things can still change between now and then.
With that, not much else to go on as the date seems to say the most. Otherwise, the software update will be DL11 (Froyo) which is expected to arrive as Android 2.2.1. The update will be over-the-air, and that means you may or may not actually get the update on the 26th. Remember this is just saying the update roll-out will begin on the 26th. Furthermore, the process will be over a 4 day period.
In terms of the breakdown, the memo states that;
“67% of users are currently on SW DI18 so the first OTA package we will publish will be an upgrade from DI18 – Froyo (DL11).”
And then goes on to mention that they “will be publishing hop upgrades from DG27 – Froyo and DI07 – Froyo as soon as possible following the initial release.”
As for the process, that is noted as taking 7-8 minutes to download and another 6-8 minutes to install. And as always, we suggest backing up any important data before you begin, because you never know what will happen. Plus, having a backup is always the way to go.
