Rhapsody For BlackBerry Leaves Beta, Now Available In The BlackBerry App World

Rhapsody App With All You Can Stream/Download Music For $10 Per Month Comes To BlackBerry

Those sporting a BlackBerry and looking for a subscription based music service may want to check out Rhapsody. The app has officially left the beta status and is now available for any and all by way of the BlackBerry App World.

“We are proud to announce that the @Rhapsody mobile app for BlackBerry devices is now live in BlackBerry App World! Ready, set, go!”

This news means the conclusion of what we can only assume was a successful beta period. But given that was the past, lets focus on the present — this means those interested can now fire up the App World and begin to download.

The app comes as a free download and there is a 14 day free trial available. That said, after the two weeks are up you will either stop listening or begin to shell out $10 per month. As for that $10 per month subscription fee, that gives you the ability to download and/or stream an unlimited amount of music. Well, I guess technically there are limits, because your phone likely has a set amount of storage space and you likely have bandwidth limitations from your carrier, though they are not set by Rhapsody.

The app works using either Wi-Fi or 3G connectivity and in addition to streaming or downloading for offline use, you can also purchase tracks and listen to pre-configured radio stations.

With that, the Rhapsody service is noted as having a “catalog of over 10 million songs” which seems to mean that just about everyone should find stuff they like and feel is worth listening to. Personally, I have almost entirely moved away from listening to music that I own and enjoy the freedom of discovery that comes with a subscription service. I have used a Zune Pass as well as Rhapsody and Napster, though truth be told — my favorite is Slacker. Even if they still have not yet rolled out their on-demand features.
