Motorola Everest Honeycomb to Make CES 2011 Appearance; Is It Just a Giant Droid?

Motorola Criticizes the iPhone & Every Other Modern or Ancient Tablet; Will Unveil Own Honeycomb Tablet at CES

Motorola has officially confirmed the Everest/Stingray Honeycomb tablet today and we’ll totally show it to you at CES 2011 when it’s supposed to be properly introduced. That’s because Motorola only teased the tablet today while making fun of all the other tablets known to man, modern and ancient, in a brilliant video available after the break.

Without showing the actual Motorola Everest/Stingray tablet, the company clearly hints at the future of Android tablets that includes a proper tablet OS version, which is supposed to be Android 2.4/3.0 Honeycomb. And Motorola takes a clear hit at all the tablets out there, but we’ll skip past all those ancient stone tablets it makes fun of, to focus on two devices, which represent the biggest threat for Motorola’s future tablet: the Apple iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The iPad description reads: “It’s like a giant iPhone, but… it’s like a giant iPhone.” The Samsung Galaxy Tab is also taking a hit as it runs “Android OS, but Android OS… for a phone.” One thing is clear here, Motorola wants us to think that both the iPad and the Galaxy Tab are offering us a phone-like experience and the Motorola Honeycomb will change everything. Again! So what do you say, Moto, is that the impression you want to give us?

Sure the 90-second video teaser is great at provoking Apple and Samsung, but it’ll be interesting to see whether the Motorola Everest/Stingray will look like a giant Motorola Droid Android handset or not. And we can certainly expect some sort of reaction from Apple and/or Samsung in the near future, so sit tight, folks, as the tablet battle is about to get even better, at least for consumers.

We’ll be covering CES 2011 live in a few weeks and Motorola’s upcoming Honeycomb tablet will definitely be on our list so stick around for more Android tablet details!
