HTC Wildfire Set To Get Android 2.2 Froyo Beginning Today
It looks like those sporting an HTC Wildfire are in for a bit of good news this morning as HTC has confirmed that the Android 2.2 software update is ready to go. Though with that good does come a bit of a disappointment in terms of a few items that will be missing.

First things first, the details are reportedly coming from HTC, who have stated that the Android 2.2 Froyo update would begin going out to all UK carriers as of this morning. And as you would expect with an update like this, it will be rolling out so you may or may not see it right off. Bottom line, try and be patient.
Anyway, as for what you can expect to see once the update has been rolled out to your handset. Those features and enhancements include WiFi Hotspot tethering, USB tethering, SD card app storage and native support for ActiveSync Exchanges. Other goodies include enhancements to the camera application as well as Bluetooth support, multiple keyboard languages and speed and stability improvements.
In terms of what you will not be seeing, nothing overly earth shattering, but I suppose some will be upset. The lacking features include live wallpapers and Flash support in the browser.
With that, your phone will notify you when the update is ready for download and installation, however you can always go and check manually. To do that grab your phone and head to Menu -> Settings -> About phone and then System software updates. From there just click to check. For those needing to verify afterward to make sure everything is looking good, you can head to Menu -> Settings -> About phone -> Software Information -> Software Number and you should see the reference to Android 2.2.
If nothing else, and while this will not make everyone feel better, it is nice to see an HTC handset (one with the Sense user interface) getting Froyo.
