ASUS Pronunciation Clarified
You say to-mah-toe, I say to-may-toe. You say Ah-sus, I say Ey-sus, he says Eh-seus. Which is the correct pronunciation? Apparently, ASUS wants to standardize how people say its brand name, and has recently made a clarification.

ASUS is among the most known brands of netbooks, particularly being the creator of the pioneering eeePC 701 just a bit more than two years back. Unfortunately, no one was really sure how to pronounce its name. In press briefings, Taiwanese company managers I met with often say it as Ah-sus, as would television commercials for the EeePC. But when you go to retail shops, the usual English or American way of saying it would be Ey-sus.
It turns out that the softer pronunciation “ey-sus,” with the long “A” sound and short “U” is correct. So the next time you drop by a retail store and ask for an ASUS motherboard or netbook, be sure to use the correct pronunciation.
Say it with me. Ey-sus.
