Xbox Live's Indie Games Winter Uprising Didn't Go As Smoothly As Planned
Remember the XBL Indie Games Winter Uprising we told you about a while back? The promotion that was supposed to help indie developers on XBLA get some decent exposure, instead of damning them to be lost among massage simulators? Well, the organizer of Winter Uprising, Robert Boyd, is telling Edge Magazine that things didn’t go as well as they originally thought they would, with only 8 of the 14 announced games releasing during the actual promotion.

Boyd says that Microsoft’s zany release scheme is partly to blame, ““The way Xbox Live Indie Games are set up, it’s difficult to release on a specific day.” He also says that developers ran into difficulties before release, preventing them from submitting their games in time, “Several of the big hitters in the promotion haven’t been released yet for a number of reasons – a bug found at the last minute, an incorrectly checked feature on the game description, or just plain not being finished yet.”
There isn’t only bad new associated with this story, though. Epic Dungeon managed to sell 6,000 copies during the 10-day promotion, however Break Limit played a distant second, selling only 400 copies, with the rest selling even less.
