T-Mobile Galaxy Tab Price Drop Confirmed
As rumored earlier in the day, T-Mobile has slashed $50 off the price of the Samsung Galaxy Tab. That brings the price of the Android tablet to just $350 on a two-year contract with T-Mobile. Keep in mind that the Galaxy Tab is a 7-inch device that can’t make calls, but can receive text messages.

So, I ask, is this low enough for you? Despite the retail (contract-free) price of the Galaxy Tab being $30 less than the cheapest iPad 3G, people have been moaning on the internet about the cost of the Galaxy Tab. Has if it’s okay to pay an arm and a leg for an Apple product but an Android product has to be dirt cheap.
The $350 on-contract now makes this the cheapest way to get a Galaxy Tab in the United States. Sprint and US Cellular are offering the tablet for $400 on contract. Other than that, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular are offering $600 for the phone without a contract and AT&T is offering $650 for the tablet without a contract (making it $20 more expensive than the cheapest 3G iPad, funny how that works). Tech blog Engadget analyzed the Galaxy Tab data plans from each of the five carriers offering the Galaxy Tab and found that T-Mobile’s data plans were pretty reasonable.
I reviewed the Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab for this site. I found it to be a really capable tablet device and a true Android challenger to the iPad. Check out my review here if you have any reservations about the device itself.
