Mass Effect 2 On PS3 Utilizes Mass Effect 3 Engine

PS3's Version Of Mass Effect 2 Will Use The Mass Effect 3 Engine, 360 Fanboys Curse The Heavens

I seem to remember recently writing an article about Mass Effect 3 that said Xbox 360 owners could no longer shove Mass Effect in the faces of PS3 owners. Well, not only has that proven true, but the tables have turned completely. Sure, PS3 owners probably won’t ever get to the play the original Mass Effect, but BioWare recently confirmed in a podcast that the PS3′s version of Mass Effect 2 will run on Mass Effect 3‘s engine.

“We actually created the engine for Mass Effect 3 and used that to make Mass Effect 2 PS3. So we took the content, the story and all of the other assets that made up Mass Effect 2 and we put it into the Mass Effect 3 engine,” said Jesse Houston is the podcast.

So, basically, with bundled DLC, an improved engine (which means improved graphics), and controller layouts that let you switch between the PS3 layout and the classic 360 layout, the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 is shaping up to be superior in every way to the 360′s.

I bet the paid-off review sites give it a lower rating for some lame-ass reason, like “it arrived a year after the Xbox version”.

Someone want to shake them and tell them that a great game is a great game regardless of when it arrives.

I’m still miffed by GT5 got a slating in some reviews, as it’s a masterpiece of driving games, and easilly a 10/10.

superior in graphics. Inferior in “Xbox360 has already had this game for a year”

Yet I’ve read reviews of the ps3 version which have that the game lags or has frame rate issues in areas where the 360 version doesn’t. I didn’t have any issues when I played it on the 360, so if slightly better graphics mean a choppier game, ill stick with the 360s, which was still beautiful.
