HTC 7 Trophy To Be First Windows Phone 7 Device On Verizon
Last month, a leaked sales flyer advertised to Microsoft employees a special deal for them, allowing them to be first in line to pre-order the WP7 HTC 7 Trophy on Verizon. If that wasn’t enough confirmation for you, Windows journalist and insider Paul Thurrott has now confirmed that rumor, saying that he’s hearing the same thing.

In a sort post on his Windows Phone blog, Thurrott wrote:
I’m told this is the Windows Phone model that will appear first on Verizon, in January.
Thurrott then linked to an HTC page detailing the HTC 7 Trophy as well as showing an image of the device.
That sales flyer from November was pushing a special deal for Microsoft employees that would let them pre-order the HTC 7 Trophy on Verizon in order to get it before anybody else. Remember that Microsoft is giving a Windows Phone 7 to every employee. With CDMA carriers not getting the phone at launch, I believe Microsoft told employees that they would be getting back to them regarding getting them phones on all carriers.
Here are the specs from the HTC 7 Trophy. Doesn’t look too bad.
- 3.8-inch display
- 1GHz processor
- 448MB RAM
- 16GB storage (via non-user accessible microSD card)
- Slider keyboard
- Windows Phone 7 (duh)
All of the first-run Windows Phone 7 devices are so similar, and this one seems to be about run of the mill. The sliding keyboard is obviously a standout feature. The screen isn’t as big as the Samsung Focus or the HTC HD7, and it isn’t OLED like on the Focus, but it’s still pretty decent, we think.

The fact that Microsoft is allowing employees to get phones before the public shows that there is no supply problem. Microsoft was previously blaming supply problems for the low Windows Phone 7 sales.
I don’t think the addition of Verizon will bring many sales to Windows Phone 7, which is already ailing on the other networks.
The HTC 7 Trophy does NOT have a slide out key board and the Samsung Focus has a Super AMOLED, not OLED.
