Kinect Self-Driving Car Built By German University Researchers
No, we don’t mean a real full-sized one. Some people managed that with a PSP and a Honda Civic a while back if you’re really into video game paraphernalia controlling a car, but this is something else entirely. It’s a tiny RC car that can detect obstacles and navigate around them using a program based on another program written for a car that participated in the DARPA Urban Challenge.

This thing is joining the ranks of an illustrious line-up of hacks already pushing the Kinect beyond the wildest dreams of its progenitors, and we can only hope more mind-bending ones are on the way. So, um, yeah, remember when we were doing all that “this is the future, where’s my flying car” bit? Self-driving cars are fine too. We can definitely live with this if someone gets around to bolting it onto something that can ferry us to work while we get our God Of War Ghost Of Sparta on. And we’ll have the guys at University of Bundeswehr Munich to thank for it.
