TimeCommand iPod Dock Gives You Whole New Range Of Features

TimeCommand iPod Dock Gives You Clock Radio And Controls Over Lamps

One thing’s for sure, there are plenty of iPod docks out there. And many of them offer the same features, so each one gets to looking a lot like its predecessors. But the TimeCommand is a little different from many of the rest because of what it will offer.

While the TimeCommand will offer many of the same standard features, including charging your iPod (not to mention your iPhone and iPad) while playing it at the same time. You’ll get access to a free app that lets you set multiple alarms, Sonic iQ tech to make the sound as high-quality as it can be, as well as a curved LCD front monitor so you can see it from different angles around the room.

But where the TimeCommand is different is the terrifying level of control that it exhibits over other appliances in your house–or, at the very least, your lamps. You’ll be able to plug a lamp into your TimeCommand and then use an app to control the lamp: you can put it on a timer, or even adjust the lamp’s brightness levels, even going so far as to have the lamp automatically cut out when you want to go to sleep.

I can see this possibly working in other ways too, especially with some appliances that don’t already have timers.  Maybe you can patch your coffee maker into this and have it kick on first thing in the morning so that coffee will be available near to hand at your bedside.  Still, even if it only works with a lamp, it’s still a step up from other iPod alarm docks–gradual dimming for sleep, followed by gradually building iPod music volume for waking sounds pretty good to me.

You’ll be able to get a TimeCommand right now out at Apple Stores for $99.99, and for those of you who don’t have an Apple Store nearby, take heart, as they’ll be hitting websites soon. Just how long soon is, we don’t know, but it’s probably not too far away.
