Nathan Drake's Backstory Being Changed In Upcoming Uncharted Movie
So, the news that Mark Wahlberg will play Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie didn’t go over very well, but was smoothed over to some extent by the announcement that Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci would be starring along side him. Fair enough. But in a recent article in the LA Times, director David O. Russel revealed that he’s taking the story in a different direction than that of the video game, which may anger some fans of the series.

“This idea really turns me on that there’s a family that’s a force to be reckoned with in the world of international art and antiquities … [a family] that deals with heads of state and heads of museums and metes out justice,” Russell said in the interview.
He also said he was halfway done with the movie’s script, which means that the movie is heading at break-neck speed toward production. I’m not saying that this plot change is going to make this a terrible movie (I’ll save those claims for talking about Mark Wahlberg within the context of the movie), but just once I’d like to see a video game movie that follows the game’s plot, merely fleshing it out a little bit.
I guess we’ll see if it works when the Uncharted movie is released.

They’re insane, an antiques cop?
I’m writing an Assassin’s Creed Screenplay, maybe I should make Altair a homeless drunk on the streets of NYC naked behind a dumster.
That’s how every game-movie adaptation is done, all of them are written by some complete idiot who hasn’t even played the games.
Except PoP which was actually decent to warrant a DVD purchase.
Mark my words, the day a good game-movie is made will be the day my AC script is chosen for the AC movie, it’s the only thing close to a good game-movie adaptation and people will enjoy it.
