Free Angry Birds for Android Game to Make $1 Million Each Month from Ads

Angry Birds for Android Is Expected to Earn Around $1 Million Each Month from Mobile Ads

Rovio has just launched Angry Birds Seasons for Android and iOS, but true fans already know that and have already battled those green-with-envy pigs in the Christmas special edition game. And thanks to those fans, especially the ones that are playing the Android version of Angry Birds, Rovio is going to make the most of the game and take in some serious ad-based profits.

The Android version of the game is free, unlike the iOS based game, but in order for users to enjoy that perk they have to deal with pesky ads throughout the whole game, whether we’re talking about the regular Angry Birds original levels or Angry Birds Seasons.

Those ads, which are being served on over 8 million Android smartphones (that’s how many downloads the original game got since launch almost two months ago), and from the newly released Angry Birds Seasons are now expected to bring in a huge chunk of change each month. And by huge I mean $1 million and that number could grow significantly considering that more and more Android users discover Angry Birds every day.

This is no rumor either, this is coming straight from Rovio, which is quite remarkable. Since the game will pull such revenue each month I’d expect those fine folks that worked on the Angry Birds levels to be awarded some nice Christmas bonuses, all through the year and keep working. Yes, my name is Chris, and I have an Angry Birds addiction.

The Angry Birds game, a simple strategy/puzzle game, is expanding into a serious franchise and we’re probably going to see plenty of Angry Birds game versions in the near future.

And since this particular title took advantage of the iOS platform to take off and become the popular, addictive, cross-platform game it is today, we can’t but wonder whether EA was right when they said Apple has a chance of getting into the console game business. Imagine Apple doing the same thing it did for Rovio, come up with a platform that allows the development of some very cool must-have games, but on a larger scale.

But we’ll be back with more details on this particular Apple move in the future. In the mean time, Android users, keep enjoying those Angry Birds levels.
