Toyota Paying To Fix Prius Coolant Pump Problem
Toyota certainly has had its share of problems over the last year, though most of those problems had more to do with their traditional vehicles and had stayed away from their fleet of hybrid cars. Unfortunately for Toyota a problem with the Prius’ coolant pump can cause the car to overheat and lose power.

Instead of recalling the more than 650,000 units that could be affected, the company has decided to pay to have the pumps fixed should the owners want to do so. The problem resides in cars that were produced from 2004 to 2007 and the bulk of those cars (roughly 370,000) currently reside in the United States. Toyota has not yet alerted Prius owners to the problem, judging that it is not a life threatening issue but has said they will begin alerting people this month.
Since November of 2009, Toyota has had to recall 14 million cars due to various problems including 11 million cars in the United States alone.
