Sharp Galapagos Tablets Set For Launch December 10th
While we first reported on the new Sharp Galapagos Tablet/eReader back in September, the release is now imminent and with it comes a few more details, including pricing. I should amend that to say that a release in Japan is imminent, as in December 10th.

Launch plans outside of Japan are actually still on the table but undecided and it’s a good bet that Japan could be the test market for just how well the new tablets/eReaders will actually sell. The Galapagos tablets will be issued with 5.5 inch and 10.8 inch screens and will cost the equivalent of $474 and $652 respectively.
Despite running the Android OS the Galapagos tablets are geared towards being used as an eReader which makes them pretty pricey when comparing it to the Kindle which sports a 9.7 inch screen. Users of these tablet/eReaders will not be able to download apps or other software the way true tablets generally work.
