Safretti Double Vision Puts Fireplace and LCD Television Together

Safretti's Double Vision Puts an LCD Television The Correct Distance From Open Flame To Give Both Values At Once

Well, folks, we’re approaching winter in the Northern Hemisphere–you Aussies and such in the Southern Hemisphere are no doubt laughing yourselves to death as you approach summer instead–and you all know what that means: snuggling up with that special someone in front of a gently crackling fire. But that no longer means you have to miss out on the movies as well, nor does that mean you have to endure the torment that is those horrible fireplace facsimile DVDs. I mean, they look great, but they don’t keep you warm. Not like the Double Vision from Safretti will, that is.

The Double Vision from Safretti is a combination fireplace and LCD television. I know, this isn’t exactly the kind of thing you expect to see combined, largely like “combination musk ox and sport utility vehicle”, but that’s what they’ve done here. The fireplace itself is actual flame, and runs on a bio-alcohol, which is so relatively inexpensive that Safretti claims you’ll get an hour of fire for about one Euro, depending on how big you like the flames. A full fuel box, in turn, will run between six and eight hours, giving you lots of time to sit in front of that crackling fire.

The LCD television, meanwhile, comes in your choice of 37 inch or 47 inch, and is located at an appropriate height above the fireplace to run without being damaged by the heat.

Sadly, we don’t know much more than that about this–price, resolution on the television, where exactly you get them, all of these are blanks–but the idea is enough to impress most any gadget buff. If you’re interested, however, there are distributors in various places all over the world, though not very many (the distributor for the entire North American continent is located somewhere in Mexico), so actually finding one of these may well be tougher than getting the cash together to buy it.
