Nook Color Root Complete, eReader Can Become Full Tablet [Barnes & Noble’s Nook Color Just Became a $250 Android Actual Tablet Via Rooting]
The Nook Color is definitely a great eReader and could be a great Christmas gift idea. But starting today the device will also act as a full Android tablet too as the Nook Color has been finally rooted.

Don’t act so surprised since it was only a matter of time until someone out there decided to unlock the possibilities of the Nook Color. We’re not surprised to see the xda-developers hard at work on this one.
As you can see in the image above, the Nook Color is running Angry Birds for Android, and unless that image has been tampered with (but why would anyone go through such great lengths), we’re looking at one of the first rooted Nook Color eReaders.
There’s no tutorial for regular mortals to use in order to root their Nook Color eReaders but one should be coming out in the near future. So, in case you’re not willing to get the Samsung Galaxy Tab (check our review here) because it’s too expensive, then this Nook Color eBook reader, once properly rooted, could be your cheap, but fully working, Android tablet.
But the Nook Color will not be the iPad Android rival you want, so don’t be surprised if it won’t meet your expectations when using it as a full tablet. As a reminder, here are some of the most important features and specs of the Nook Color:
• Size: 8.1 x 5.0 x 0.48 inches
• Weight: 15.6 ounces
• 7-inch Vivid View touchscreen display with IPS technology
• 1,024 x 600 resolution
• Storage – 8GB up to 6,000 books from over 2 million titles to choose from
• microSD
support of up to 32GB
• Mono speaker
• 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack
• Rechargeable battery – up to 3 hours of use
• Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n – Free Wi-Fi in Barnes & Noble
• USB connectivity
• Nook kidz app
Anyone particularly psyched about turning the Nook Color into an Android Tablet?
