Bioware: Mass Effect 2 PS3 Better-er Than An Ice Cream Volcano You Guys [Mass Effect 2 Playstation 3 Is Going To Even Top The Xbox 360 Version]

We usually relish a nice reveal, the thrill of decyphering clues, tearing up screenshots and the like. We like to hear from developers about their upcoming games, is what we’re saying, even if we do live in perpetual dread of the inevitable dud in a franchise we really like. And what we especially like to hear from developers regarding upcoming games is that when they’re bringing them to a platform a year late, they’re bringing them in style.

“Oftentimes when you go to the PS3 you see stuff like down-ressing and using a smaller than 720p resolution to try and get back some of the framerate,” said producer Jess Huston. “We haven’t done that. We really wanted to try to make it as good, if not better than the Xbox version.” That means that any and all patches, game engine updates and yes, following the Oblivion route, all DLC available to date will be included in the package, as well as a comic recapping events in the first Mass Effect that also serves as a save game generator, adding 20 hours of gameplay and 100$ of value according to Bioware.

Going to top 360 version? just because its has all the content? you are very wrong.

To be honest, all versions are just the same, yes there might be a little difference but all are the same.

PS3 get the ame of the year edition early, the 360 and PC will get it later.

Sure, theyre getting the DLC, patches, etc included but they act as if its something 360 gamers are missing out on. Patches take only a few seconds to download and any fan of the game will already own the DLC. If anything, id argue its an inferior product as theyre only getting half the game. A motion comic does not equal, wont form the same emotional bonds with characters or have the same cinematic quality as the original Mass Effect. Anyone whos jumped into ME2 without playing ME has said the same thing: its not as good, not to mention it takes quite some time to grasp the content well.

Years worth of engine improvements sweet. I hope bioware does a good job. And to mathew your not patching years worth of game engine changes into your game when you download little bug fix patches. Oblivion was done nice but it had more frame rate problems than the 360. Dragon age was ok but they should have dialed back the textures to match the 360s because the frame rate was a little to choppy. Maybe this will be the one where it finaly gets better performance and looks.

If it’s coming out considerably later than the 360 version and they’ve had plenty of time to tinker with and optimize the game, it BETTER look better. If not then that’s a shortcoming with no excuse. The added content won’t make it a better game at all considering those who own it on 360–like myself–have also the first Mass Effect, an integral part of the Mass Effect story, at our finger tips and some of the downloadable content is free anyways and that which isn’t has already been collected and complete. PS3 games that come out after their 360 counterpart are usually inferior in terms of texture resolutions, scaling, frame-rate etc, even though they come out much later and so to compensate they include content on-disc. I have a PS3 and probably won’t be buying this.
