New Kinect Hack Allows Gamer To Play Super Mario Bros. Using Kinect As NES Controller
The Kinect hacks we’ve seen recently have been pretty cool, but this might just qualify as the coolest one yet. YouTube user Yankeyan has hacked his Kinect so it acts like a NES controller when using an emulator on his computer. So, this guy is using a Kinect to play a Nintendo game on his PC. I’m pretty sure this an indication that the end-times are approaching.

In the description on the YouTube page, Yankeyan writes, “I programmed it to recognize my motions and passed the virtual button presses to the NES emulator. I could have placed a simulated keypad right in front of me that I can press with my hands, but I thought full body gestures were more in the spirit of Kinect. Of course, Mario isn’t designed to be played like this, so this is really really hard.”
I wonder if Microsoft is regretting their decision to suddenly become okay with Kinect hackers, especially when you consider how many comments on the YouTube and on various other game websites say something to the effect of “the best game on Kinect is 25 years old.” That would be what we call a burn, kids.
