BBC America On PlayStation 3 Starting Now
If you’re an American with a fondness for English programming, the only (legal) way to get those program(me)s has been through either the DVD box sets or through some-what obscure cable network channel, BBC America. If you’re like me, and your cable provider doesn’t offer BBC America, now you can get some BBC America programming through the PlayStation 3, as the Official US PlayStation blog has announced that they’ll be selling BBC America content through PSN for American customers!

No word on how much BBC America stuff will make it to PSN, though. Sony is coy about exactly how much, but they have promised Top Gear (!), Doctor Who (!) and Being Human. While we’re still hopefuly for Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares – Sony has announced that the pricing is pretty typical of video purchases on PSN. $2.99 per episode for high def, $1.99 per episode for standard def. Sony has promised that “many more hits” will debut throughout December.
Speaking of Top Gear, the American version of Top Gear debuted last week on the History Channel and as happened with the US version of The Office, all the internet hipsters who were familiar with the UK version immediately started screaming about how awful it was and how inferior it was to the original. If you’re like me and think it was okay, the American Top Gear will also be for sale on PSN. Gran Turismo 5, both British and American versions of Top Gear, gearhead’s delight on the PlayStation 3 – we think.
