Sega Resetting Sonic 4: Episode 1 Leaderboards Because Of Cheaters
You know, I’ve never understood the mentality behind cheating to get your name to the top of the online leaderboards, or at least way these cheaters go about doing it. I feel like if I was cheating – let’s say, for instance, at Sonic 4 – I don’t think I’d make it so that my highest ranking time read 0’00″00. Maybe that’s just me though, because it looks like some people are perfectly content with posting a 0’00″00 time and basically saying to the world “I cheated to get here, and now I’m going to give you undeniable proof that I did.”

So, because of these guys Sega has announced plans to reset all of leaderboards for all of the stages in Sonic 4. This is a bit of a frustrating move, though, because they aren’t actually offering a fix to the problem – they’re just erasing records that a problem exists. Essentially, what this boils down to is the ones who have legitimate times that they actually had to work for being punished, because they’ll have to go back and earn those high scores again, whereas the cheaters can glitch their way to top again, just as easily as they did the first time.
Oh Sega, where would the gaming world be without the backwards decisions you guys are famous for?
