Mario Sports Mix European Release Date Early Next Year [Crazy Square Enix Developed Mario Wii Game Coming Q1 Next Year To Europe, Still No Mention Of American Release]

It’s hard to get excited about a Wii sports game in 2010. But, there is some interest in Mario Sports Mix, seeing as it’s not being developed by Nintendo. Instead, they’re bringing in Square Einx as ringers and the whacky sports game will feature characters from Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. And now, Nintendo UK and Nintendo Germany have announced that the game is landing in Europe early next year.

The game came out in Japan a few days ago, and will be arriving in most of Europe on January 28th, 2011. The United Kingdom can wait a few extra days for the game, as it will arrive in the UK on February 4th. As mentioned in the title, Nintendo has promised Australian and North American versions of the game, but nothing’s come up yet. Per Nintendo’s usual international strategy, it’s up to Nintendo of America and Nintendo Australia to work these things out (see the various delays relating to the Mario 25th Anniversary stuff).

Mario Sports Mix seems to be more or less a Mario Party-style minigame collection. The real appeal is that it’s made by  featurSquare Enix andes the “Slime” enemy from Dragon Quest has a playable character. The characters from Final Fantasy are all mostly from the early ones, so don’t expect any Cloud vs. Mario basketball dream showdowns. The game contains volleyball, hockey, dodgeball and basketball.
