Apple Cupertino Headquarters to Expand; Apple Campus Will Double in Area [Apple Purchases Land from HP in Order to Expand Cupertino Campus]
Apple is fast growing, with sales of iPhones, iPads and iEverythings booming. It seems like with all this growth, Apple’s employees are also in need of additional space. The place is bursting at its seams, and now Apple has decided to expand.

Apple has recently acquired a 98-acre parcel of land hitherto owned by Hewlett-Packard almost next door to its Cupertino, California headquarters. This acquisition will almost double the area of its campus; the HP property connects to a 50-acre land that Apple has previously acquired.
HP is moving out of the Cupertino site so that it can consolidate operations in its Palo Alto headquarters. While no sale price was disclosed by either party, realtors in the area estimate the value at about $300 million.

Cupertino city officials are disappointed with HP’s departure, but say that Apple’s expansion more than covers for the loss (a revenue of about $1 million per year), given Apple’s reputation in the technology business.
Apple currently has 57 buildings in its main headquarters, and leases several other buildings in the city. The company has yet to disclose plans for its newly-acquired land.
