PlayStation Move Shortage Coming? [Sony Warns That PlayStation Move May Be Hard To Find Until February 2011 - Are They Just Trying To Trick You Into Buying One?]
There could be a shortage of PlayStation Moves! That’s the word from Sony, whose notable PR front man Peter Dille warned GamestBeat that the Move add-on controllers could be hard to find for consumers until February 2011. So far, the only word from Sony regarding sales numbers has been that they have shipped 1 million units to stores one month after release.

Dille said that the poor performance of the video game industry all, combined with the strong holiday season offerings (Black Ops, Gran Turismo 5, among others) would “[bode] well for the holiday selling season.”
Dille’s warning about Move supply echoes comments made two weeks ago by Microsoft VP Don Mattick. At the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco, Mattick said that if you wanted a Kinect, you should buy one by the end of “this week” (which was two weeks ago, mind you). Microsoft obviously believes that Kinect is in for a big supply crunch too.
Our quick unscientific spotcheck of major US online retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart) showed that they were mostly sold of Kinect standalone units and Kinect bundled with the 250GB model – while there were plenty of 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundles still on the virtual shelves. Despite Dille’s claims, all three of those sites still had plenty of PlayStation Move in stock, in almost SKUs possible to get your hands on it.
Your results may vary at your local store. Still, despite Mr. Dille’s warning, there doesn’t seem to be shortages for the PlayStation Move at the moment, at least online. Granted, it’s not Black Friday yet, so anything could happen.
