Free Assassin's Creed Brotherhood DLC Coming December 14

Ubisoft Montreal Releasing Free Assassin's Creed Brotherhood DLC As A Thank You To Fans On December 14

It isn’t much of a secret that Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood had a good launch. After all, it was one of the most anticipate games of 2010 (as well as one of the best). So, Ubisoft, as a display of thanks, is making the first Brotherhood DLC, titled Animus Project Update 1.0, free for both Xbox 360 and PS3. The DLC is multiplayer DLC, and it will add a new mode called Advanced Alliance, which is basically just Alliance mode, except harder: “With three teams of two players each, Advanced Alliance is a tougher test for players and rewards teams that use stealth techniques to hunt their targets.”

You’re also going to get a new map, Mont Saint-Michel, which is set on the island of Normandy in France. “We wanted to say thank you to our fans for making Brotherhood such a huge success its opening week. We are very proud of the unique and innovative Multiplayer mode it offers, and hope the fans enjoy the new content,” Sebastien Puel, executive producer of Ubisoft Montreal, was quoted as saying in the press release.

On second thought, I don’t really think this is free as a “thank you” but rather, I think it’s free because Ubisoft knew they couldn’t get away with charging fans for a slightly updated game mode and a single new map. In any case, free is free, so I’ve got nothing to gripe about. Look for Animus Project Update 1.0 to be available for download on both XBLA and PSN on December 14th.
