Canon 4K Camera Emerges, Offers Unfathomably Clear Video [Canon 4K's Resolution Set To Be Higher Than Most Televisions Can Display]
Sure, the DSLR is a bit clunky, drawing on what people always thought of cameras in the design–the big lens, the chunky main unit, and so on–but the folks out at Canon are pushing the design envelope with their upcoming Canon 4K camera, and not just in the appearance, either.

You can see from the pic above that this one’s going for something a lot different than you’d normally see out of the DSLR market–enough to make me wonder, in fact, if the Kuwaiti government would ban this little beauty too.
There are plenty of differences not so readily apparent; for instance, the LCD screen on the Canon 4K is set on the top of the camera, instead of on the rear, and it also flips up when in use and folds away when not. But it’s not just design that’ll have you drooling over the Canon 4K–it’s the resolution. The Canon 4K is actually capable of shooting video at 60 frames per second, good enough for most anyone on its own, but it shoots those 60 frames in–brace yourself–7680 x 4320 resolution. I assure you that that number is not a typo–that is indeed fully double what Samsung’s ultra-definition television, not even released yet, will present its images in.
And I probably should mention that the Canon 4K is doing all this on the strength of an eight megapixel CMOS sensor.
Now for the bad news: Canon hasn’t announced anything like a release date on the 4k. And this frankly makes some sense–what would you display the pictures on, anyway? Nothing commercially available has that kind of resolution!
But still, this is a great one for the “oh, the possibilities” file, and one to keep watching. After all, if they can shoot video in that resolution, how much longer until 1080p suddenly looks sick?
