BLACK FRIDAY: Is GameStop Open Early On Black Friday? Yes. [Some 800 Stores To Open At Midnight For Biggest Retail Shopping Day Of The Year, Other Stores To Open At 5am]

Rumor has it that Black Friday isn’t named that because you’ll see the worse side of human behavior on that day as pregnant ladies and old women fight over the last Elmo Rubs-A-Lot. Instead, it’s named that allegedly because retail stores will run at a loss all year (“in the red”) before Black Friday puts them over the edge into profitability for the year (“in the black”). Many stores will open their doors early on Black Friday, and GameStop is no exception!

800 of the 4500 GameStops worldwide will be opening their doors at midnight on Thanksgiving to welcome in the hordes of Black Friday. You can find if yours is on the list by checking this handy map (link). If your local ‘Stop isn’t on the list, don’t fret. All GameStops will be open at 5am, even if they’re not on the list.

But, if you show up between midnight and 5am, you do get something sort of special. GameStop will give you double points on your GameStop rewards card. I guess you could say it’s like a “double XP” morning. (Call of Duty humor)

You can check out the leaked BF GameStop deals here. Nothing terribly awesome stands out, save for New Vegas, Fable 3 and Halo: Reach (all for the Xbox 360) being just $40 and the base game of World of Warcraft being $5 with a $5 gift card (so, free, basically).

Anybody planning to camp out at midnight at their local GameStop? Tell us about it in the comments.
