Popular Science Praises Move & OnLive, Doesn't Mention Kinect Or Wii

Popular Science Add Move & OnLive To Top 100 Innovations List, Kinect & Wii Are Nowhere To Be Seen

Popular Science has released their “Best of What’s New 2010″ list, and if you’re Sony, the results are great. If you’re Nintendo or Microsoft, well, not so much. OnLive was named in the list, and it receives this honor because, of course, it allows people to play high-end computer games without requiring users to shell out thousands for a high-end gaming rig. But the other gaming award is the one that might end up causing some controversy…

According to Popular Science, the Move is “first motion-capture game system accurate enough to attract the hardcore gamers who consider the Wii and Microsoft Kinect to be kids’ stuff,” which, even though it’s probably painful for Wii and 360-faithful to hear, is true. Kinect and Wii are both intended for a family-oriented style of play, while Move’s accuracy means that developers can more easily produce games for the hardcore Sony crowd.

Still though, that was a pretty good burn against Microsoft and Nintendo.

    1. Kevin Schram says:

Psh. Kinect is an innovation. The magazine print industry is so corrupt, Microsoft probably didn’t buy enough advertising next year to get featured on this list.

    2. Eric Abent says:

I agree that it’s innovative, that’s for sure. But until we see Kinect really flex its muscles and give us something more than mini-games, I’m placing my bets on Move.

    3. John Bailo says:

Seems to me that Move can always offer a “low res” version of itself without the wands…but Kinect committed to the “no controller” design…and now they are stuck.
