Jolicloud Jolibook Netbook Now Available In The UK

We have mentioned the Jolicloud Jolibook a few times in the past week alone, except this time we return with some slightly better news. Well, better news if you are living in the UK and have been hoping to make a purchase.

Yup, the Jolibook has officially come available for sale. At present, and noted on the Jolicloud website as being “only for now” the netbook is only available in the UK. That said, those interested can expected to pay £279.99 and the netbook is available by way of Vye and with Amazon UK. No mention as to when it may come available in other markets, however we will keep an eye out.

In terms of specs, the Jolibook comes pre-installed with Jolicloud 1.1, which coincidentally is not even available for download as of yet. The hardware specs include a 10.1 inch display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 processor, 1GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Ethernet, three USB 2.0 ports, built-in card reader and built-in webcam. Other specs include a pair of stereo speakers, headphone out, microphone in, VGA and a 6-cell battery that is touted as being able to offer up to 7 hours of run time. Otherwise, the Jolibook measures in at 266 x 185 x 18.5-25.4 mm and weighs in at 1.35 grams.

All said and done, this is a netbook running Jolicloud with a fancy design on the lid. Personally I like Jolicloud but can always download and install the operating system on any netbook of my choosing — especially when I am looking at a price of nearly $450 in terms of US dollars. After all, I can grab an Asus Eee PC 1015PEM from Amazon with similar specs for $368. Of course, taking that route you will have to download the operating system, move it to a USB flash drive and then install it, but for a near $100 savings that is well worth it to me. That said, we will have to see what the price will be when it hits other markets before making a final judgment.
