Gaikai Cloud Gaming Service Beta Debuting With Mass Effect 2
We took a look at this promising game streaming service some time ago, mainly as an alternative to OnLive, but the launch creeped up on us as much as on everyone else. “On Sunday afternoon we decided to stop coming up with excuses not to launch Gaikai to the public and silently sent out a blast of 1,000 invites around the world,” said Doug Perry, Gaikai founder.

“We sent out another 10,000 invites and players are currently hitting 15 of our 24 data centers. No issues have been reported that we can’t fix this month.” he went on. Yeah, well that seems to be the big hurdle, right? If 15 of 24 data centers are getting hammered with just 11000 playing, imagine what the entire Internet will do to them. At least their debut game is awesome. They’ve got Mass Effect 2 in there and apparently they’re seeing surprising sell-through numbers. Well, at this point one would be a surprising number, but you know what we mean. If you’re tired of splashing around in the shallow end with us doubters, you can sign-up to the beta via the “via” link as always.
