What Is Mass Effect Creator Bioware's Barely Teased Game?
Concerned citizens would dearly love to know, but we have to make do with a 2-second video snippet. Why concerned? Because the whole thing is one buzz-cut guy dressed in gun-metal gray pointing his sniper rifle out a broken window. Not only would we literally die of shock if there existed one modern military shooter that doesn’t contain this exact scene, but yeah… they announce their big reveal with what looks like an extra from Mass Effect doing exactly nothing while clutching a sniper rifle.

The word is that it’s the first showing of Mass Effect 3. Putting out genre-defining, sales chart destroying fare like Mass Effect (second one now with PS3 DLC)and Dragon Age (not the Facebook game), not to mention probably the most consistent tradition for excellence in the industry certainly gives Bioware inordinate amounts of good will with both the press and the fans, but we always thought the whole point of teasing an announcement with an image is to get everyone wondering about that interesting image, not just wonder what Bioware is cooking up because they’re, you know, Bioware. They could have done that with a picture of a turnip. Guess we’ll all find out when Spike TV’s Video Game Awards, air on Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. eastern, 5 p.m. pacific.
