Samsung Galaxy Tab – A Flop? Poor Sales Cause Halved Production?

Disturbing Report Says Samsung Is Cutting Samsung Galaxy Tab Production in Half

The Samsung Galaxy Tab, the first Android tablet that seems to have a fighting chance against the iPad, and a device we’re getting ready to review ourselves, is already selling in various worldwide markets. Or, according to this report we’re about to show you, it’s not selling as great in worldwide markets!

Samsung stated a while ago that it would sell about 1 million Galaxy Tab units by the end of the year. Considering the success of the Galaxy S Android smartphone that’s a pretty logical statement to make. But that’s also a bold estimate considering that the Tab is actually a little more expensive than the iPad no matter how you look at it. The off contract Tab and the subsidized Tab are both more expensive than the iPad and people have already noticed that.

It now looks like Samsung has decided to cut Galaxy Tab production to half due to poor sales performances. The word comes from Ashok Kumar, an analyst from Rodman & Renshaw that happens to be in the “know” on the matter. That’s a little disturbing isn’t it? You’d say that it’s too early to tell how many Galaxy Tab units have been sold so far since the device has only hit various markets. But at the same time we can’t help but notice that Samsung didn’t come forward with any amazing numbers?

We all know how well the iPad sold in the first few days and how Apple made it all official. And just recently we’ve seen the Kinect become a bestseller with over 1 million sales in its first 10 days. Think the Galaxy Tab will sell as good in its first 10 days?

We have no way of confirming whether the Galaxy Tab production have been scaled down for now, but come next quarterly earning report we’ll have a lot more details about Galaxy Tab sales for you. So, until then, will you buy a Galaxy Tab in the near future or are you taking the iPad way?
