Comcast iOS App Launches With Wireless DVR Control

Xfinity App For iPad, iPhone Will Control Comcast DVRs Over Wireless Network]

Cable giant Comcast has officially launched the Xfinity app for the iOS through the app store. With the Xfinity, Comcast users will be able to set their DVRs to record shows even from the office or on the commute home using their iPhones or iPads.

The Xfinity is available for free and users can also browse through their TV listings using their tablet or iPhone. If a show is already on, they can tap on that show’s title and the DVR will change the channel. If the show is in the future it will ask the user if they wish to record it.

Sometime in December, Comcast also plans on making it possible for its customers to watch actual shows and movies on the iPhone or iPad directly, saying they plan to bring several premium channels in the near future and will be adding channels all the time. Comcast is not the only cable network embracing iOS, as Time Warner Cable has announced they will be launching an app in the near future that will allow customers to watch their programming through streaming internet.
