MLB 2K11 Cover To Be Graced By Roy Halladay

The San Francisco Giants may have gone home after the World Series with the trophy, but you can’t forget the highpoint of Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay throwing a perfect game in the NLDS. And, the day before the National League Cy Young Award is announced, 2K Games has announced that Roy Halladay will be the cover athlete for the 2011 MLB game – MLB 2K11.

Any baseball fan knows the accolades of “Doc” Halladay – 20th perfect game in MLB history, a no-hitter in the postseason (in his first MLB playoff appearance) and the leading candidate to be the 2010 NL Cy Young award winner. 2K Sports, in their press release, says they officially predict Halladay to win a pitcher’s highest award.

In the press release, Halladay said: “I’m honored to be on the cover of Major League Baseball 2K11. I’m not one for predictions, but should 2K Sports be right about tomorrow, well, that would be a great way to end the year,” he said, regarding the 2K’s prediction regarding the Award.

Also in the press release, 2K Sports VP Greg Thomas said: “In the ‘Year of the Pitcher’, Roy has truly distinguished himself as the best pitcher in baseball,”. “Between his dominating season that included baseball’s 20th perfect game, and his exciting performance during the postseason, we believe there is no player more worthy of representing our revolutionary pitching mechanic on the cover of Major League Baseball 2K11 than Roy Halladay.”

No release date has been announced for MLB 2k11, but if years past are any indication, expect the annual baseball game to come out around March of next year. MLB 11: The Show – 2k11′s rival baseball game, published by Sony for the PS3 – has yet to announce their cover athlete. But it is coming in 3D.
