Lenovo IdeaPad U260 Ultra-Portable Notebook Now Available
Lenovo rather quietly added the IdeaPad U260 ultra-portable notebook on their website earlier in the month, and as of today — it is available for purchase. The good news, the notebook has a rather light overall weight and a seemingly fair starting price tag. Of course, that uniquely sized display was accurate, the U260 features a 12.5 inch display.

First, lets begin with the price — $899. Well, $899 and up depending on configuration. That said, the Lenovo IdeaPad U260 features goodies to include a 1.33GHz Intel Core i3-380UM processor, up to 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, Intel HD graphics, multi-finger touchpad, “breathable” chiclet style keyboard and Windows 7 Home Premium.
Other specs and features include Dolby Advanced Audio surround sound with a pair of built-in speakers, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Ethernet, Bluetooth, two USB 2.0 ports, headphone out, microphone in, VGA, HDMI, mini PCIe, webcam and a 4-cell battery that is said to be able to offer up to 4 hours of run time.
Touching back on that display for a moment. More specifically than 12.5 inches is that is has a 16:9 widescreen format and a pixel resolution of 1366 x 768. One of the options for upgrades come in the form of the processor, which can be upped to an Intel Core i5-470UM. As for the notebook itself, the IdeaPad U260 is made from a single piece of magnesium allow and is available in a few exterior colors to include Mocha Brown and Clementine Orange.
All said and done, the only items that I can see some complaining about is the lack of ExpressCard slot and optical drive. Though with a notebook that has a thickness of 0.78 inches and a weight of 3.04 pounds — the lack of optical drive seems fitting. Otherwise, for those who cannot live without an optical drive just yet, there is the option for an external USB DVD drive. Well, that or, use one of the numerous other external optical drives available on the market today.
