Desktop PC Sales Slumping In Third Quarter
While sales of laptops, Netbooks and Tablets have been as brisk as ever, the world’s movement towards mobile electronics has made the sale of desktop computers slump quite a bit. The latest third quarter sales figures show that Desktop numbers have come in around 5 percent under projected figures.

Research firm Gartner, expected a 12.7 percent increase in desktop sales over the same quarter from a year ago, but in actuality sales numbers were only 7.6 percent higher. While the increase might seem like positive news, falling short of projections shows just how popular mobile internet devices like Tablet PCs have become thanks to the iPad and the many, many variations of its design.
With WiFi hubs even popping up inside McDonald’s restaurants, people want to have their internet on the go and that means that desk tops are becoming somewhat obsolete, despite the fact that they are clearly better suited for large memory purposes.
