Sony Ericsson Xperia X7 (& Mini) Windows Phone 7 Smartphones Leaked

Sony Ericsson Doesn’t Put All Eggs In Same Basket, Ready to Launch the Xperia X7 & Xperia X7 Mini WP7 Handsets in 2011

We just told you that Netflix for Android is coming just in 2011, but the New Year will bring us a lot more new gadgets and tech. Two of these gadgets seem to be the Sony Ericsson Xperia X7 and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X7 Mini, which are both Windows Phone 7 smartphones.

The new devices have been spotted on some internal Sony Ericsson materials, and although we could be starring at some bogus material here, the devices look pretty decent so far. Sony Ericsson will not make Symbian handsets anymore but that doesn’t mean they’re going to be stuck with Android. The company will create WP7 devices too and the Xperia X7 and X7 Mini are probably the first two such handsets.

The specs and features of the rumored Xperia X7 are pretty much in line with what we’ve seen so far from other WP7 devices:

  • 4.3-inch capacitive 480 x 800 pixels (WVGA) touchscreen display
  • Qualcomm MSM8260 1.2GHz processor
  • 8.1-megapixel camera with HD 720p video recording
  • HDMI output with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound
  • Windows Phone 7

Well okay, we could be looking at the first Windows Phone 7 flagship device here as the Xperia X7 has a far better camera and a more powerful processor than all current WP7 handsets, at least on this particular piece of virtual paper.

And in case you think the Xperia X7 Mini is going to be an entry-level device, then take a look at the specs and features below that make the Mini quite an adversary to beat by current WP7 handsets:

  • 3.5-inch capacitive 480 x 800 WVGA touchscreen display,
  • 1GHz Qualcomm QSD8250 processr
  • 10.1-megapixel camera with HD 720p video recording, 3x optical zoom and Xenon Flash
  • Noise cancellation headphone
  • Windows Phone 7

But, again, are these phones even real? I don’t mind the so-called “leaked screenshots” here. What I do mind is the video that got leaked. If anyone from Sony Ericsson really wanted to really leak these devices then why not make a proper video and the leak it to the press? Are we simply looking at some fake slides here? Check for yourself the video below and the images uploaded here. Everything does look a little strange, not to mention that the video below also happens to be the first, and only video of a certain jvshade1 YouTube user.

Oh, and in case these phones do exist and Sony Ericsson will launch them next year, then I’ll just point to the obvious dumb-name mistake here. If the manufacturer will follow the Windows Phone 7 smartphone name meme (HTC HD7, Samsung Omnia 7) and it’s really going to use Xperia X7 as a logical name for a WP7 device, then what are we to expect when WP8 comes along? The “Xperia X8″ moniker is already taken by an Android device!
