RockMelt Limited Beta Browser Launches Today
The startup browser that plugs itself as a social networking browser has finally started its release, beginning with a limited beta release. RockMelt has billed itself as a Facebook browser and the first release of its product shows that Facebook is indeed integrated on the left side of the window.

While RockMelt is a new browser it will appear similar to one that is familiar. RockMelt is built on top of chromium, the same sort OS that Google Chrome was made with. The connection to Facebook comes when you load the new browser up. On the left hand side there is a section to login to Facebook Connect that will then display your Facebook friends and their latest statuses. On the right hand side of the browser, your favorite sites will be listed as well as blogs or Twitter feeds. When one of the blogs or Twitter feeds you follow update, those will be highlighted in yellow.
RockMelt founder Eric Vishria says he thinks that users will be able to be coaxed to change browsers, using statistics that show that in the last three years, nearly 500 million users claimed to have switched browsers.
