Gameloft Announces Seven Samsung Galaxy Tab Formatted Games

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is getting closer and closer to launching here in the US, and while some are simply excited others are beginning to worry about the apps. After all, the display on the Galaxy Tab is seven inches, much bigger than even the larger 4.3 inch smartphone displays and in some cases the apps may not scale all that well.

Unfortunately, this will likely be the case, and at the risk of angering the Android fanboys and girls by making a comparison between the iPad and iPhone and the Galaxy Tab and Android smartphones — we could see a similar situation. After all, the iPhone apps can scale up, but often they look horrible. That said, at least one game developer on Android is making sure there titles will be properly formatted and displayed nicely. That developer is Gameloft who has announced seven games at launch with more to arrive in the “coming months.”

And yes, while some of these games are simply ports of what is already available on the iPad, it is still nice to see them coming to Android. So without further adieu, the titles include Asphalt 5 HD, Let’s Golf! HD, N.O.V.A. – Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance HD, Hero of Sparta HD, Modern Combat: Sandstorm HD, Dungeon Hunter HD and Gangstar: West Coast Hustle HD.

• Asphalt 5 HD – The greatest number of licensed vehicles in a racing game available for the Galaxy Tab. Over 30 cars to choose from in the most polished racer out there.
• Let’s Golf! HD – A best selling golfing game that’s fun for the whole family. Enjoy 63 holes, four environments in full 3D environments with colorful animated characters.
• N.O.V.A – Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance HD – Voted Action Game of the Year, this sci-fi FPS tackles 13 intense levels set in various environments: jungle, snow, spaceship, bunker and alien city. Combines online and local multiplayer modes for greater battles.
• Hero of Sparta HD: A full 3D experience that takes you on an epic journey filled with mythical creatures and graphical detailed environments from the depths of the Underworld to Atlantis.
• Modern Combat: Sandstorm HD: Plunge into the heart of modern warfare with highly polished environments set in the Middle East. Intense gameplay and a huge selection of weapons make one of Sandstorm Gameloft’s finest FPS to date.
• Dungeon Hunter HD: A gothic RPG that sets the bar for hack n’ slash gaming. Discover the enormous world of Gothicus with different quests and missions to choose from in varied environments ranging from villages to dungeons.

And while I cannot speak for all the games, given I have been enjoying Dungeon Hunter HD and Gangstar: West Coast Hustle HD on the iPad for quite a while I would not hesitate to recommend either.
