New Star Wars: The Old Republic Video Shows PvP Warzone Action
We may not have a specific release date for Bioware’s MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic – it’s set for a release sometime in Spring 2011 – but today we get our first peek at its PvP battlegrounds, specifically Alderan. In the video below, we see the Republic and Imperials fighting over control of the neutral planet, which houses anti-aircraft weapons capable of destroying an entire enemy fleet.

Other PvP battleground are going to be objective-based like Alderan is, so it isn’t always going to be “kill the other team more than they kill you.” On Alderan, your team wins when you force the other team’s fleet to retreat; this is done by taking over control of the anti-aircraft artillery and blasting those stupid Republic/Imperial ships into oblivion (or at least until their shields are destroyed).
World of Warcraft? Who needs it. I’ve actually been considering jumping back into the World of Warcraft fray lately, but with a game like this supposedly just around the corner, who would I want to? Yeah, the Horde is cool, but do they get lightsabers? Nope, just a bunch of jerks. Enjoy the video!
