DICE Says Medal of Honor Suffered Mediocre Reviews Because Of Taliban Controversy

DICE Explains Why Medal Of Honor Got Mediocre Reviews, Blames The Taliban

We all know about the controversy that surrounded Medal of Honor before its release. You’ve got a game about American forces fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan, and in a FPS hoping to make a name for itself, you need to have multiplayer. In this particular game, when you have multiplayer, that means someone has to play the Taliban. Some American’s didn’t like that too much. DICE’s Patrick Liu is now telling Eurogamer that this controversy is the reason why some of the game’s reviews weren’t exactly glistening.

“The controversy did affect some reviews…It stirs a lot of feelings, just the setting. And that does affect people’s judgement.” Liu told Eurogamer. Now, I don’t want to sound like, you know, a jerk or anything, but I think the reason Medal of Honor didn’t get awesome reviews is because it failed to innovate in a market that is over-saturated with FPS games, many of which are great in their own right.

Also, concerning the quality of the title, Patrick Soderlund said in a previous interview with Eurogamer, “Medal of Honor is to some extent judged harsher than it should be. The game is better than today’s reviews are indicating.” To fans of Mitch Hedberg, this should sound pretty familiar: remember when he would say “That joke was better than you acted,” when one of his jokes bombed? Yeah…I feel like you’re just making bad excuses now, DICE.
