No Facebook Phone For You, Mark Zuckerberg & Co. Announce New Mobile Features
I have followed the Facebook event as it was happening, but at no point was I interested in any of the new mobile features Mark Zuckerberg and Co. were showing off on stage.

The Facebook Phone, a device we kept talking about in the past few weeks never came out, and that’s a pretty strong denial in my book. In fact Facebook may never launch a Facebook phone as it looks like the company is more interested in offering users a seamless, and unique, Facebook integration on mobile devices. No matter whether we’re talking about iOS, Android or any other mobile platform, Facebook wants to make the most of its mobile clients since, as they put it, no less than 200 million consumers want to socialize, via Facebook, while on the go.
So the obvious question here is what did Facebook announce today? If you are a consumer that doesn’t really care that much about how things work as long as they work correctly then Facebook didn’t really announce anything for you. On the long run you’re just going to notice how your mobile Facebook application is getting better and better, but do watch your privacy settings from time to time!
If you are a developer interested in offering Facebook integration in your application or game in order to make it even more appealing to the public, then you’re probably interested in how the single Sign-On, the new Location APIs or the Deals platform work.
With the single Sign-On you’ll be able to avoid any log-in hassles. Log in once, using your Facebook ID and a bunch of doors will open to you not including Heaven’s door.
Moving on to Location APIs, developers will be able to let you update your location using Facebook, and there’s nothing more annoying than like letting everyone know where you are and what you’re doing. Developers will be able to use the Facebook Places features, but it’s up to you to actually start using them.
Last, but not least, we heard talk about Deals. In other words, Facebook will still be making money off you as it will help businesses get more details about you and your group in order for them to offer you even more details that suit your needs in order for you to spend even more money. And that’s how we get back to Facebook.
One other interesting thing that Mark Zuckerberg said during the Q&A session is that the iPad is not a mobile device. I can’t wait for someone to contradict him on this particular statement.
And, no, no Facebook Phone for you! Yet…
