T-Mobile myTouch 4G Android Smartphone Available Today

T-Mobile myTouch 4G Now Available, Priced At $199.99 With T-Mobile Or $79.99 With Wirefly

Today is the day where T-Mobile has officially made the myTouch 4G smartphone available. Bottom line, those interested can visit a T-Mobile retail location, call customer sales support or surf on over to the T-Mobile website and place your order as of now. But like most smartphone launches these days, shopping direct with the carrier will simply mean spending more money.

First things first, the T-Mobile myTouch 4G is an Android 2.2 smartphone with features to include a 3.8 inch display, 1GHz processor and 5 megapixel camera with flash and zoom. Other perks include the Swype virtual keyboard, Wi-Fi, Stereo Bluetooth, microSD card slot, 8GB microSD card, Genius Button, 3G and 4G support as well as a front facing camera for video calling.

With that, the myTouch 4G is available in a variety of colors to include black, black/plum, red and white. Now, lets get to the pricing. And keep in mind, unless otherwise noted, the prices include a two year agreement with T-Mobile.

That said, you can choose to shop direct with the carrier. In this case you will pay $199.99, which comes after a $50 mail in rebate. Alternatively, you can shop with the third party retailer, Wirefly and pay $79.99, which comes just as that — $79.99.

Now for the catches, the Wirefly listing is only showing three colors at present — black, red or white, which means that if you are looking for the black/plum you will need to go with T-Mobile direct. Otherwise, those prices are reflecting new customers. If you are a current T-Mobile customer who is willing to renew or upgrade you can still pay less with Wirefly as opposed to T-Mobile. In this case the price is a bit more, $149.99, but still far less than direct with the carrier. And best of all, no mail in rebates to deal with.

Lastly, if you are looking to go contract free, T-Mobile seems the better bet. At present the contract free price with T-Mobile is $449.99 and the Wirefly price is a bit higher at $539.99.
