Nintendo World Store Featuring Mario Celebration

Nintendo’s huge Nintendo World store in New York City has been closed recently, we’re told, for remodeling. According to a press release issued by Nintendo today, they’ll be reopening the store in grand style with a party celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros!

In case you’ve been living under a rock all year, this year is the 25th anniversary of the original release of Super Mario Bros., one of the best games of the 8-bit era and a simple game that’s come to define video gaming for a lot of people. Nintendo has been selling limited edition red 25th Anniversary Mario gear (both Wii’s and DSi’s) as well as decorating a tram in Australia.

But now, they’re having a party. A Nintendo “Media Alert” issues the word that Nintendo will be having a Mario Party (pun intended) at the Nintendo World store at Rockefeller Plaza on November 7th, from noon to 5pm. New and old Mario games will be on display to play and there will be Mario cake and a picture booth where fans can take pictures of the moment. Mario and other Mario characters will be there* and fans are encouraged to show up in costume themselves. Sounds like a good time, if you are a Mario fan and live in the NYC area.
